This is a tool we’re using with some kids who are working on CVC words in first grade. It’s designed to help them reach their stretch goal—starting with 5 words and building up to 25! We knew students could successfully hit that first step, so we built from there. The tool gets laminated and added to their reading buckets, along with a ring of CVC word cards. Do kids check off the boxes on the tool on their own or do they read them to a teacher?
ReplyDeleteWe progress monitor and once they complete the set- they check it off. We find that the tool reminds students what they are working on. My first grade teachers have had a lot of success with kids being motivated to practice the words.
